We remember Elijah. Not just for what he did, but why he was the one that had to do it. 1 Kings 16:30 “And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him.” 31* “Ahab took Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.” 33* “And Ahab made a grove…”

No one in Israel stood against them. After everything Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and Joshua went through; no one stood up. So The Living God, our Lord, called a stranger from a strange land east of the Jordan. He answered. • Click below to follow us on X •

1 Kings 17:1. “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, ‘As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.’” Elijah told Ahab to his face that his god was a dumb rock that couldn’t squeeze rain out of a wet towel. And The Living God, our Lord, proved it through him. Now for the difficult question: If you were alive in Israel when Ahab ruled; would God still have needed Elijah? If we are fooling ourselves the answer is I don’t know. We don’t dare say Yes. . We fear the honest . No. Our mission is . to stand with Christ . and together. No . matter how wicked . the world gets. No . what the powers . that be try to . convince us. We . have Him on our . side. Amen.

WHY ELIJAH?

Elijah & Ahab meet for the first time.

The world is changing & only one of them knows it.

Elijah does not fully realize what he is about to experience.

He just obeys.

1 Kings 17:2-4 “And the word of the Lord came unto *Elijah, saying, get thee hence and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”
